St Ali, Clerkenwell

As the weather turns colder, it's much harder to find a weekend brunch that's worth rolling out the house for and braving the morning chill. On one rainy Sunday, we made our way down to Clerkenwell to give St. Ali a try, upon the recommendation of friends who lived near the area. After a brief queue at the door, we took our seats at the bar as we were famished & couldn't be bothered for an additional half an hour wait for a table.
For brunch, I had the amazing Corn Fritters, which were light and fluffy & came with a nice green salad, haloumi and tomato chutney. Dessert was shared, as the savoury portions were huge, we had a Banana Bread with Espresso cream on top. Delicious!
Coffee was just what we needed, and St Ali brews & roasts their own beans. I had my usual black Americano, which was rich and had a deep hazelnut aftertaste. It even came with warm milk in a small glass medicine bottle - just what the weary soul needed on a rainy weekend.
St Ali was packed with a queue well after we finished brunch, so if you're planning a visit, come well early or very late in the afternoon. Although it was quite a trek for us to get here, we will definitely be back for another soul nourishing breakfast and more of that dark coffee, please!
