Originally a restaurant by Jason Hyatt, the Abaca concept has extended to a full-fledged yet intimate resort. It is composed of only 9 luxury suites and villas, and each guest in assigned to a 24 hour personal butler.
You can't get any more ocean-front than this beautiful view overlooking the sea. Cabana No 1 offers the best view of the sunrise, and the deck chairs have the best sun for that perfect summer tan! Complimentary mango popsicles, fresh cold towels and iced water were on hand throughout the day to keep you cool under the baking sun.
This was our Oceanfront suite with abaca furniture designed by Kenneth Cobonpue, world renowned furniture designer from Cebu, who also incidentally made some pieces for Brad Pitt.
Breakfast was a wondeful start to the day, you could choose from savoury egg dishes (from Eggs Benedict to fluffy scrambled), or sweet (the Brioche French toast was divine). Of course, my main reason for coming to Cebu was to enjoy the best mangoes - and since I made the special request on day one, the thoughtful butlers made sure to include mangoes every morning!
We moved to one of the Villas on our last day, with its own private pool, outdoor shower, and spacious living area! It's definitely ideal for couples, but I missed the view of the ocean that we were spoilt waking up to earlier in the week.
Glorious days in the sun, with wonderful food. On the last day, we were crazing for some Lechon, as D had never tried it. I initially wanted to go into the city to pick some up, but our wonderful butlers arranged for lechon to be brought over so we could have a lovely lunch and chill out in the resort. One can really get used to all this pampering, and it was just an overall blissful experience where you really felt you can get away from it all.
