It's been a busy last few weeks with the 55th BFI London Film Festival. I got to see two films - one was the Kid with a Bike (by the genius Dardenne brothers). It was a Belgian film about a boy - his struggles to cope with his father abandoning him, and the hope brought by a new foster mum. It was very well shot, very convincing cast, but a bit heavy on a Friday night after the week I had !
Last Tuesday night, we saw the anticipated Anonymous, starring Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave, among a stellar ensemble cast. It was a movie about how Shakespeare wasn't the real author of his plays, but just a front used by the real author, the Duke of Oxford. Lots of scandal, period costumes, and drama onscreen.
We started the night with drinks at Wyld Bar in W Hotel, walked over to the red carpet on Leicester Square, and it ended in an after party at May Fair Hotel. Here's the theatre right before the film premiered!
